Sue and I have worked together since 1999 across various professional environments, first as colleagues and then as professional associates. Sue has a great ability to maintain a strategic perspective on a problem and understand the broader nuances and needs within a system. She is clear-thinking and able to be objective and logical in her analysis of problem situations. This allows her to give sound advice and steer solutions in the right direction. She is highly reliable in driving through her delivery commitments and making sure these are concluded on time. She has the confidence to coordinate and implement projects and deliver on these by drawing on her broad experience across industries and her skill base. We have worked together extensively on management development and coaching processes, and also on organisational restructure projects within the professional services industry, the mining industry and the digital industry. Sue is highly personable and enthusiastic about getting work done. She is clear on her principles and values. Sue and I worked together at the Fulcrum Group, where Sue was engaged to provide strategic direction to the people practices and processes of a Group that had grown rapidly and needed to develop a consistent and comprehensive approach to the existing Human Resources function. In addition to many other tasks performed professionally, energetically and timeously, Sue undertook a wholesale re-write of all our human capital policies (including re-organizing our other policies to form a holistic framework). She also introduced role profiles to the Group and wrote the role profiles for each role in the organization. This helped enormously to maintain objectivity, to assign responsibilities and to manage and reward performance throughout the organization. Sue played an important role advising the executive team on the people aspects of a merger transaction, which required guidance to the leadership team as well as practical suggestions relating to a proposed structure and related communications. She proved herself able to navigate the multiple complexities of this task with as much energy and commitment as sensitivity and insight. Sue also implemented a human resources system to underpin and maintain the improvements and efficiencies that had been introduced to the Group. Most importantly, Sue always conducts herself with consummate professionalism, an exceptional focus on execution and delivery whilst maintaining unwavering integrity and personal ethics.

Sue has both consulted to Ceed Learning and supported numerous projects over the last six years. Projects include an 18-month change management project linked to the implementation of a human capital platform and LMS for a large FSI, a communication strategy for deploying digital learning across Africa for a large bank and most recently a digital competency framework for upskilling people in communities in the Western Cape. Sue’s competence is a given but what sets her apart is her absolute professionalism and ease with which she engages with people.

Sue has a diverse portfolio of human capital skills. During her time at Hollard, she worked with the Ghana office on organisational redesign and change management, she managed the improvements in the recruitment processes, built a competency library and she supported business in a generalist role. Sue is skilled at accurately analysing and understanding problems quickly and she is flexible in engaging at all levels within an organisation.
